an article - TAXES

Firstly, before going on to the article, I would like to extend my thanks for iZ and Checkmate (apparently, the only two visitors that have read my previous post). Nothing could be more pathetic than that. Nevertheless, better a few than none. Therefore, thank you guys for reading them and if you guys want to give feedback and comments regarding what and how I write things on this blog I would greatly appreciate them. Now, enjoy this article that was forwarded to me. love, roy.

TAXES
A tax assessor  came one day to a poor Christian to determine the amount of taxes he would have to  pay.  The  following conversation took place:

"What property do you possess?" asked the assessor.

"I am a very wealthy man," replied the Christian.

"List your possessions, please," the assessor  instructed.

The Christian said:

"First, I have everlasting life, John 3:16

Second, I have a mansion in heaven, John 14:2

Third, I have peace that passes all understanding,  Philippians 4:7

Fourth, I have joy unspeakable, 1 Peter 1:8

Fifth, I have divine love which never fails, 1 Corinthians 13:8

Sixth, I have a faithful wife, Proverbs 31:10

Seventh, I have healthy, happy obedient children, Exodus  20:12

Eighth, I have true, loyal friends, Proverbs 18:24

Ninth, I have songs in the night, Psalms 42:8

Tenth, I have a crown of life, James 1:12"

The tax assessor closed his book, and said, "Truly you  are a very rich man, but your property is not subject to taxation."

I pray that all of us will have this kind of tax free "wealth."

Thanks for dropping in; Have a richly blessed day!

When all you've got to do is sit and wait

I was just wondering since it has been awhile that I wrote a long post would anyone actually gonna read this one? I guess the number of feedback (Comments) I get from this post will determine how many are actually reading this topic. Anyway, I was recently contemplating an issue here. I was wondering about what else should one do "when all you've got to do is sit and wait" which is the situation that I'm currently in. At the moment, I am now back in Indonesia and am waiting for the removals to ship most of our stuff from Perth to Medan. With all the other errands having settled (i.e. got a new ATM card after the previous one got blocked because I forgot my PIN number as I've been away for too long, bought PowerBook 17-inch which I have been drooling over for the past few months, and got myself a hair-cut... which I'm not too proud of) I am basically doing nothing till we get to Singapore. And that's not all, as my youngest sister's school will only commence in the month of July, we won't be flying to Singapore any sooner unless we manage to find a place to rent or purchase down there. Thus, the title "when all you've got to do is sit and wait".

Ok... you might be wondering why suddenly talk about 'nothingness'. However, this is not nothing, this is something. Let me explain: when a person is doing nothing (in other words, "sit and wait") what would most likely takes place? Don't tell me they go "duh" and then switch off their brain just like that. Our brain keeps ticking. It keeps running faster than any processor that a Microsoft could come out with (which by the way, Apple Macintosh would have run with a lesser noise). In fact, our brain is "more active when we are sleeping than when we are watching a television" [some guy, some year]. Having known this, I am sad to inform you that there is no nothing awaits you in the "sitting and waiting" when you're doing nothing at all. There is 'something' that awaits you (lurking and waiting for every opportunity to deceive you). This 'something' in Christian world is called the enemy (more well known as: devil). What are the purposes of the devil you ask? That's a good question. Basically, "... the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" [1 Pet 5:8b] and as was written in the Holy Bible, "the [devil] does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy" [John 10:10a]. It has come to my attention and is my duty to inform and warn you guys what the devil can and might do to your life.

What kind of 'steal, kill, and destroy' can the devil do to you as a person when you are doing nothing? Especially when you are about your business and totally not getting in anybody's way? Of course the enemy can't simply hurt you physically out of nowhere, or suddenly you got a cut as though a ninja was throwing poisonous needles at you. "A wandering mind is as dangerous as leaving the gas on inside an unventilated house" [Chandra, 2005]. It is when the person is doing nothing at all (when he/she is sitting and waiting around) that the enemy strike us by putting unhealthy thoughts into our mind. What sort of unhealthy thoughts are we referring to here? They could be our past failures which we have already overcome, things that hurt us emotionally, damaging words that had been said towards us (making us feel unworthy), and even images we saw in the past that can destroy our current victorious lifestyle.

Knowing all this have caused us to win half the battle. However we should not just stop at knowing how the enemy can deceive us. But what's next? How can one totally and fully win this battle against the enemy? The answer lies in "what else should we do" when all we've got to do is sit and wait. Simply put, don't just sit around and do nothing even though under the circumstances we are supposed to be sitting and waiting for something to take place. Stand up, take initiatives, DO something. There is no point having the mind wander while we sit and wait. Equivalently: when one is waiting for his/her right half to come along the way according to God's timing, one should not let their mind wander and speculate too much of this and that. So, when all you've got to do is sit and wait. Why don't you do something while you're at it?

something to think about...

extra: JESUS CHRIST has made us (those who receive, confessed, and trust in HIM) to be more than conquerors! Not just normal conquerors... But MORE than conquerors!!!
... any Amen?
