A Moment to Consider

i felt this is so in line with what our church is currently addressing (through Pst. Kong's message on Making Marriage Work)

The Mommy Test
Author Unknown

I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I
took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that.

"Why?" my daughter asked.

"Because it's been laying outside, you don't know where it's been, it's dirty and probably has germs" I replied.

At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, "Wow! How do you know all this stuff?"

"Uh," ...I was thinking quickly, " All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mommy Test. You have to know it, or they don't let
you be a Mommy."

We walked along in silence for two or three minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information. "OH...I get it!"
she beamed, "So if you don't pass the test you have to be the daddy."

"Exactly" I replied back with a big smile on my face and joy in my heart.

When June and I were married on Valentine's Day 1959 she worked at the office of the East Ohio Gas Company in
Cleveland. She worked there until she became pregnant and quit in October that year. Robin, the first of our five children,
was born on January 16th, 1960.

June's job was "mother first class," raising out children. Mine was daddy, supplying the income to raise the family. Life was
no easier then than it is today. Once, when a company I was employed by downsized and I lost my position with them, June
went out the next day and got a job at a service station so that I could search for another position.

When I found one several months later June quit at the Gulf station and went back to her number one job as a career
mother.

It seems like fewer woman are raising their children as their primary task. If you are an at home mom do not let anyone or
anything, except short term circumstances, shake you from that commitment. You will be honored by your husband and your children for your steadfastness in years to come.

For those of you that are mothers but have not been able to quit and take on mothering as your full time job you may want
to carefully consider and discuss with your husband the pros and cons of setting that as a goal. Perhaps a plan as to how
you might as a team achieve it could be put in place to accomplish it.

Proverbs 31 starts with "The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him." It shows that the things a
mother teaches her children, who become kings and queens, are remembered and passed on.

Moms must pass the mom's test and dads the dad's test.
"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his
mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and
they shall be one flesh. (Ge 2:24)

Yes, there is grace for working moms or single working moms. One thing for certain however is that moms can't be
dads, and dads can't be moms. They can't pass the others test. They each have a God ordained role in the raising of their
children who are flesh of their flesh and bone of their bone, the manifestation of the prophesy, "They shall be one flesh."

This, as is each A Moment to Consider, is not intended to bring condemnation on anyone. That would be the work of
the enemy. The Lord's work through us is to help our readers think about faith and faith in practice. If the Lord is dealing
with a reader on a topic a "Moment" perhaps might bring that person to conviction about something through a message. At
times we really question if a message should be sent. When we hear, "Yes," the message is sent. When we get a "No," it
isn't.

A Moment to Consider

A Memorial

On Monday, July 24, 2006 Marlene Patterson went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a witness of the
Lord's love and grace to all who came to visit her as she battled cancer.

She was born in 1930 in Vienna, Austria, as the second of three children. She lived in Austria, Czechoslovakia, and
Germany during World War II and the postwar years. In 1957 she came to the U S as a postwar bride where she raised a
family.

In later years Marlene served as a missionary to the Eastern European countries. Living in Bavaria, she traveled extensively.
She began Women's Work groups in many cities, training women leaders for the local church. When she returned to
the states she pastored a church in Daphne, Alabama. She returned to Bulgaria, Romania, and Albania a numerous times
to encourage women in seminars and conferences.

Her book, "In the Claws of the Vulture," is the inspiring story of her walk of faith in picturesque Austria, through the dark
days of WW II under the German Reich, to a new life in America and missionary work in Eastern Europe.

There will be a memorial service at the Spanish Fort Presbyterian church Saturday, July 24th, at 11:00 AM.

Many years ago a Church in Atlanta vetted one of it's senior pastors who had been retired many years. He was ninety-two.

After a warm introduction, He rose from and walked slowly, with great effort and a sliding gate to the podium. Without a
note or written paper of any kind, he placed both hands on the pulpit and then quietly and slowly began to speak....

"When I was asked to come here today and talk to you, your pastor asked me to tell you what was the greatest lesson ever
learned in my fifty odd years of preaching.....I thought about it for a few days and boiled it down to just one thing that
sustained me through all my trials. The one thing that I could always rely on when tears, heart break, pain, fear, and sorrow
paralyzed me. The one thing that would comfort was the song;"

Jesus loves me this I know.
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to him belong,
We are weak but he is strong.....
Yes, Jesus loves me...
The Bible tells me so.

When he finished, the church was quiet. You actually could hear his foot steps as he shuffled back to his chair.

There is a new version just for us with white hair or no hair;

Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow.
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.

(CHORUS)
Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,The Bible tells me so.

Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I'll go.
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.
(CHORUS)
Though I am no longer young,
I have much which He's begun.
Let me serve Christ with a smile,
Go with Him the extra mile.
(CHORUS)
When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song.
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have no fear, for I am near."
(CHORUS)
When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love.
(CHORUS)
I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day."

We believe that Marlene is in heaven singing this song and other songs of praise, worship, and adoration. If you want to
be doing the same some day in the future be sure that you have asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior. He really loves you.
Tell Him often that you love Him.

Today in service i was educated, encouraged and empowered by Pst. Kong's message (from the series of Making Marriage Work 2006). What do i learn? in a nut shell:

"Sex Is Awesome!!"

LOL.. keep in mind that it has to be within the realm of marriage..

i lent my Nindendo DS to a colleague during the weekend, she wanted to play New Super Mario Bros.. after office hour on Friday my other colleague tried out Mario Kart.. he was playing a course and without realising start motioning to left and right towards where the kart is moving.. but what really impresses me most is that when the kart swerve to the side, hitting the grass, he goes, "ouch.. hahaha..".. i think that is what Nintendo has been trying to achieve.. the fun factor.. great one Big N.. :D.
