movie: Ice Age 2

i watched Ice Age 2 last week.. the computer graphics are incredible.. storyline quite interesting.. and of course, the little rodent is sure to please moviegoers.. overall i give it 3 out of 5: a good movie..

but my experience of the show was totally ruined, no thanks to the middle-aged lady sitting next to me.. from the beginning of the show she demanded that i do not go "wow" and be too expressive throughout the show.. i have been nothing but trying to be pleasant to her.. but her tone and glance only gave me the impression of looking down at me.. what an attitude!! i am totally disturbed by her..

anyway, i've made my mind up already after the show.. telling my friend WY that when Scary Movie 4 is released, i'm gonna watch it and i will hold back nothing!! if i wanna laugh, i'll laugh loudly till i cry.. if i wanna fart, i'll fart as i please.. ain't nobody gonna ruin my whole experience when watching Scary Movie 4.. so, if i happen to be watching the show in the same theater as you.. i can only say, "please bear with me.. and i've warned you.. LOL.."

worth the read..

Everyday we say, "Yes Sir," to the Lord Jesus - our CHAMPION and HERO. My Lord and my God.

A Moment to Consider
MARINE FOR JESUS
By: Jim Baxter Sgt. USMC
World War II and Korea Veteran

My brother and I joined the U.S. Marine Corps right out of high school and went away to World War II. Our mother, a True Believer, wrapped us in Psalm 91 and claimed God's promises over us. He went to the Paramarine/Raiders and the 5th MarDiv and I to the OSS and the 2nd MarDiv. We both went through combat and returned home safely after the war.

In 1950, with the outbreak of the Korean War, we were both recalled to active duty with the 1st Marine Division. Our mother again wrapped us in Psalm 91, gave each of us a small New Testament, and again sent us off to war with the Lord's blessing.

As a 12-year-old, I had accepted the Lord but had never been well disciplined or obedient. I wanted to play patty-cake in the sand piles of the world. At 25, when I went to Korea, I started reading the New Testament my mother had given me.

At the Inchon landing, and for the next two weeks of heavy combat as a rifle-squad leader, I read a few Bible verses every day. I loved my brother Marines who suffered and died alongside me. As the death and destruction grew more intense - and as I stood on the brink of eternity - I did not like what I saw.

As my outfit, Fox Company [F-2-1], attacked up the streets of Seoul, I was hit with a machine-gun bullet. I made it behind a burning police sub-station in the middle of the street. My corpsman, Chico, dressed my wounds and as sniper bullets crashed into the street beside us, he laid on top of me - covering me with his own body - and yelled in my ear, "You've had enough!"

Other riflemen nailed the snipers and as Chico left me to help other Marines lying wounded in the street, he was hit by two bullets that blew the shinbone out of his leg. I never saw Chico again.

Several Marines threw a wooden door on the ground, rolled me on it and ran me down the street under heavy fire. It was a fearsome ride. I was placed on a DUKW, given a shot of morphine, and dreamed a beautiful restful sleep to Kimpo airfield and the flight to Japan.

At Yokosuka Naval Hospital for three months, I proclaimed my loyalty to Chico, my corpsman. One night, the Lord came to me. I saw the blood running down His forehead, into His eyes, and down over His cheeks.

I looked into His blood-filled eyes. He spread out His bloody hands and said, "I did this for you."

I was willing to be loyal to Chico - but had not been willing to be loyal to the Lord. The Lord said, "Come and follow me. I will make you a man. Put away childish things."

I knew what he meant. I said, "Yes Sir."

With the Lord as the Lord of my life, I re-joined my outfit and went back into front-line combat for another five months before returning home.

My brother came home with frostbitten feet and I came home with a tender rear-end. Our mother cried with joy unspeakable. We were both baptized and have been His loyal Marines ever since.

Everyday we say, "Yes Sir," to the Lord Jesus - our CHAMPION and HERO. My Lord and my God.

I still pray for and bless Chico Carsonaro.

Winston Churchill once said, "Courage is the most important virtue because it makes all other virtues possible."

As a senior in high school ready to join the Marine Corps, I thought his statement was good. The sequence sounded right.

As a 26-year old veteran of front-line combat in two wars, I came to understand that Churchill was not accurate. Courage is not the prime virtue. It is faithfulness/loyalty/commitment that is the prime virtue. It is being faithful that makes all other virtues possible, including courage. The Corps has it right: semper fidelis. "Always faithful. "

Jesus is faithful. "Moreover, it is required of stewards that a man be found faithful." (I Cor.4:2)

movie: V for Vendetta (2006)

went to watch it, finally, last Saturday.. have high expectation of this movie even before it's release and before i make my way to the cinema, GS Team gave thumbs up for the show, now i am fully assured i'm in for a great time.. why did i say 'finally'? it's because only after weeks of its release was i managed to go and watch it with my buddy (we've been talking heaps about it but always couldn't allocate time to watch it due to other movies we have to check out).. almost missed out on it though..

one word.. this film "ROCK".. too bad it's showtime in Singapore is about to come to an end.. making way for new upcoming movies that are lining up already..

the show was adapted from a Marvel Comic.. got delayed of its release, actually, because of the incident of London Underground train bombing just last year (it happen to be also one of the scene in the movie, that's why).. this movie got so many level.. it's deep.. makes one think.. really think a lot.. i happen to have to explain what certain scene is implicating to my friend during and after the show (actually will discuss further on our next outing; was rushing home after the show, afraid of missing my bus.. lol)..

really enjoy the storyline.. very engaging.. dealing with political issues.. and foremost, about ideas and freedom.. i finally understand what the critics meant when they say, "he tortured her in order to make her come to senses and see the right perspective"..

my favourite and most touching scene is when the residents all come out wearing the mask and costumes.. really moving and cool.. T.T

for this wonderful piece of film.. i give it 4 out of 5..

would have made it to 5 if they expand more of what actually happen to V during the lab time.. *fingers cross* that they'll make a sequel dealing with his time in the lab.. :P.

the moral of the story? go REVOLUTION (Nintendo)!! LOL..

Banlieue 13 (2004), known as "District 13" here..

Just came back from watching this show..

You know how it's like.. at first you came to a movie without much expectation.. let alone a high one.. what's more, the show is in French and subtitled in English.. so there you go.. i was tired from standing throughout the day.. almost sleepy at times already..

Then again this show ain't like any other show that i've been to recently.. even from the start, the audience was immediately presented with a pleasant long running filmography from the scene of a wall of B-13, down the street, through the cables, up the pipe, and ended in a room.. focusing on a guy here with tattoo n stuff.. all of these, while passing by couple of rough looking fella with tattoos and carrying guns at specific location..

This show is tense even from the beginning.. but i was even more surprised, and very much delighted, when the actor began doing a Parkour (a sport, which consists of moving freely in a natural area including climbing on buildings and taking on whatever is in your way)..

http://imdb.com/name/nm1042642/bio

storyline.. really interesting.. twist and stuff.. makes one think throughout the show (unless fighting scene kicks in, then your brain rest for awhile to absorb the choreography).. what really amazes me is how the director is able to capture the chasing scene when Parkour breaks out.. it all seems like one smooth ride for the moviegoers to follow Leïto jumping all over the place..

for those who prefer to read the synopsis first before going for the movie:

http://www.twitchfilm.net/archives/003463.html

all in all i give it (personally from me): 4 out of 5, meaning - it's a MUST WATCH..

why? 3 reasons why:
1. let's support international movie..
2. cos i said so..
3. the guy can do Parkour!! what more do you want?

note: my personal thanks to Jeremy for introducing me to the movie.. never regret every second of it..

my personal movie rating..

this is what i reckon for giving rating (out of 5):
5 - Classic in the making!!
4 - Must watch!
3 - a good movie..
2 - so-so movie (apply only for certain genre moviegoers)
1 - for the love of God, DON'T watch it!! (better save up your money for upcoming games!!)

movie: UltraViolet

[Last Saturday]

just came back from watching it..

it's colourful.. a lot of action yet intensity wasn't there for the moviegoer.. but basically the director is trying something new here and there..

i honestly felt detached from the story.. storyline got twist but it wasn't the "ooohhh" kinda twist.. too many questions but wasn't presented in a way where viewers felt wanting more.. a lot of cool concepts, gadgets, and ideas though.. but they are overshadowed by the movie's inability to tell the viewers what is actually happening and what is what, who is who.. it's a bit random..

have i already mentioned that the writer and director is of the same person?

if you like filmography like Hero (full of color; blue, green, red, n so on) then you might wanna check it out.. nice corridors, backdrops, and architectures..

do i feel worth watching it? nope..

2 out of 5 from me..

ps. sorry Milla..

i can only summed it up with one quote from a well know director, "directing is like playing a toy.. but not all can afford it".. i guess this fella is rich..

22. for they will refresh your soul. They are like jewels on a necklace.
23. They keep you safe on your way, and your feet will not stumble.
24. You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly.
